What Customers Say About World of the Microscope (Science & Experiments Series):

I can't recomend this book enough. this is THE book for anyone interested in exploring the world through a microscope. lots of great tips, how to use stains, even how to make a slide to hold a live ant for study without hurting him (we did it and it was awesome).

Great for the young, even for adults who know nothing about microscope and the world they reveal. even how to prepare your own slides, and the equipment you need. I agree with WaygatThis book is a great introduction for young minds, or for anyone who knows nothing about microscopes and the world of the very small. This little 48 page book covers everything from the history of microscope, the scale of things, how to use one, looking at cells, microorganisms, plants, insects, rocks, etc.

The book also includes a short history of the microscope, an explanation of how microscopes work, and a description of how they are used in scientific research and industry. This book includes drawings rather than photographs, and uses Usborne's typical two page spread for each topic.Enthusiastically recommended. This is an excellent, albeit slim (48 pages), volume written for upper elementary/middle school students. It is intended to be used with a microscope, as it has directions about how to use a microscope (such as never lower the lens while you are looking through the microscope), suggestions for basic things to look at with a microscope (feathers, hair, etc.)., and then complete instructions for looking at more complicated subjects such as cells (hoe to make a temporary mount and examine cells from your cheeks), bacteria (growing your own bacteria using petri dishes and gelatin), fungi (mushroom spores), plant sections (how to make your own microtome), and so on.

Makes a great add-on gift so that the person you bought the microscope for can actually get started on their way to learning.

The book arrived in less than 4 days. THE WORLD OF THE MICROSCOPE had good information to help my daughter with her science project.
